Metals transport with leachate from landfills in 1990s and 2000s (see Serco 2011). Metals transport from acid mine drainage, lead smelters (see Kretzschmar & Schafer 2005). Colloids tend not to advance ahead of the chemical or physical perturbations that caused their mobilization (Ryan & Elimelech 1996, Ryan et al. 1999).

Variability of trace metals in coastal and estuary: Distribution
Changes in the temperature and acidity of seawater can affect the solubility and adsorption processes of trace metals in the marine system. However, changes in the biogeochemical cycles of trace metals are more complex than merely reflecting the solubility of these metals (Hoffmann et al., 2012).Beyond natural variabilities such as temperature, salinity, …

The karst area in general has very specific characteristics, such as a thin layer of soil on the surface and a very uneven distribution, as well as a multitude of interconnected cracks that enable rapid infiltration of water underground. The term "dissolved" is a bit of a misnomer, as in the case of metals, truly dissolved or free ion forms of metals would exclude any particle sizes > 1 nm (the size of typical hydrated metal ions). A "dissolved" metals analysis is meant to address the concern of increased environmental mobility through groundwater systems which may ...
