The first is no longer made is a combination Arkansas stone. One side is hard, the other soft. About 4*1*3/4". The second is a double India stone, soft and hard. Norton number is IB134. Both of those get used for deburring. I used the Arkansas on the mag chuck of the surface grinder. The India gets used on Mill table, vise, fixtures, etc.

Razor sharp glass slivers everywhere. Gives me the creeps. Granite just breaks and leaves rough edges with sand like crumbles. Good float glass is indeed flat but still thin compared to granite. A piece thick enough to reduce sag to acceptable levels will still be about 3/4 the thickness of an equivalent granite plate and nearly as heavy.

I have a chunk about 400mm wide X about 1500mm long X about 19mm thick which is the largest bit of reasonably flat material I have and as Peter F said, here in Ozztralia, granite plates and even cast iron marking off tables are reasonably uncommon used and when they do turn up they are still pretty pricey.
